A Little Further Away
Explore the market towns of Crediton and Tiverton both just a 15 minute drive away.
Crediton is located in the centre of Devon and is best known for St. Boniface Church and has an excellent Farmers Market where in traders’ words – virtually everything has been grown, reared, harvested, baked, cooked, smoked, or processed within 10 miles of the market site.
Tiverton is the largest town in mid-Devon and has a number of tourist attractions including the Tiverton Canal Company. Hire a boat, enjoy a drink at the Ducks Ditty Cafe or see the last horse drawn barge in the West Country. There are also many lovely walks to take or enjoy shopping in the town and visit the Pannier Market – famous for its locally handcrafted goods and produce.
In just 20 minutes you can be in the city of Exeter with its great shopping and dining, with cafes, pubs and boutiques – if it’s not shopping you are after then visit the historic cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery which won museum of the year in 2012!
Down by Exeter Quayside you can enjoy hiring a bike or boat from Saddles & Paddles or go climbing in the amazing Quay Climbing Centre, go for a walk and enjoy the eclectic mix of shops, cafes and bars or take a relaxing boat trip down the old Exeter ship canal.
Just outside of Exeter, is Haldon Forest Park – with its walking, bike, horse riding and Segway trails, plus Go Ape and a lovely cafe – there is plenty of fun for everyone.
Drive just a short way to the North or South Devon coasts and have a day at the beach, both can be accessed within an hour.
