Laura obtained her 200 and 300 hr yoga teacher training through yoga alliance including Reiki 1 and 2 and Thai Yoga Massage in 2016, is fully registered with yoga alliance as a RYT-500.
Laura began her yoga journey in 2003 when she exclusively practiced Hatha yoga, overtime she has developed a love for Vinyasa, Restorative and Yoga Nidra adding to her love of Hatha. Laura’s style of yoga is mostly focused on the person practicing with her and will gladly adjust the practice to the needs of her fellow yogis. She likes to allow time for breath work and meditation during practice as well as exploring the body in ways you may not have tried before. Laura’s classes are fun and thoughtful with a long blissful feeling at the end of the session.

About Claire

Claire is a qualified Physical Therapist and qualified as a yoga instructor in 2003 completing a two year study program of Yoga Asana, Philosophy and Pranayama with Contemporary Yoga Ireland.  It was in 2006 when she discovered Ayurveda and found that by chance she had been already following the Ayurvedic lifestyle.

Claire could easily spend hours passionately extolling the life changing and healing benefits of yoga and Ayurveda and spend the rest of her life being an eternal student of the body.  However, the sacred healing power of touch and putting her acquired knowledge into practice, drives her on to help resolve chronic issues and bring healing and release to her clients.

More about Claire

Both Laura and Claire may have some flexibility and are able to cover for each other during any absences, so please just ask when enquiring.

The Hidden Tubhouse at The Orchard Retreat

The Hidden Tubhouse

With two cast iron baths and a shower, The Hidden Tubhouse is The Orchard Retreat’s version of a glamorous hot tub. Whether you want a refreshing shower, to bath the children or have a romantic soak, this is certainly something to try during your stay.

Something Special

Having planned to add something extra special for our guests for a while, we came up with the idea of an outdoor bathroom.  Nestled in a small wooded area by the stream, The Hidden Tubhouse really does add to the glamping and holiday experience. Being open air you can run a lovely hot bath and relax in utter comfort, whilst sky gazing from the tub. Perfect!

From concept to design, it was such a fun process. Working with a talented local friend, we went through a number of design ideas until the final shape was agreed. Crafted in a beautiful hexagonal shape, it feels spacious yet private.  The tubhouse was built using locally sourced Douglas fir giving it a beautiful finish that will only get better with age.

On behalf of all our guests we have tested the tubhouse (well who wouldn’t) and it is just lovely. The birds were singing and the gentle babbling of the nearby stream, combined with the open view of the sky and trees made for a wonderfully tranquil experience.  Family bath time will never be the same again. Have your dressing gown and flip flops at the ready to sample this new delight!

Tubhouse Rules

Of course there are some tubhouse rules.  Please use earth friendly products only, be mindful of other guests who may be waiting their turn and children must always be supervised. But more importantly, have fun, relax and enjoy the view!

Check Availability

All you have to do is book your stay.  Check availability via our website or call us directly and we can help you book your dream getaway.  The tubhouse is then free to use during your stay – we look forward to seeing you soon.

A Little Further Away

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Explore the market towns of Crediton and Tiverton both just a 15 minute drive away.

For local activities to do with your children, this website is hugely helpful at listing some of the day trips around our area and beyond. Day Out With The Kids!

Crediton is located in the centre of Devon and is best known for St. Boniface Church and has an excellent Farmers Market where in traders’ words – virtually everything has been grown, reared, harvested, baked, cooked, smoked, or processed within 10 miles of the market site. There is also Crediton Coffee – a great place to stop for a coffee and slice of cake before you head out.

Tiverton is the largest town in mid-Devon and has a number of tourist attractions including the Tiverton Canal Company. Hire a boat, enjoy a drink at the Ducks Ditty Cafe or see the last horse drawn barge in the West Country. There are also many lovely walks to take or enjoy shopping in the town and visit the Pannier Market – famous for its locally handcrafted goods and produce.

In just 20 minutes you can be in the city of Exeter with its great shopping and dining, with cafes, pubs and boutiques – if it’s not shopping you are after then visit the historic cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery  which won museum of the year in 2012!

Down by Exeter Quayside you can enjoy hiring a bike or boat from Saddles & Paddles or go climbing in the amazing Quay Climbing Centre, go for a walk and enjoy the eclectic mix of shops, cafes and bars or take a relaxing boat trip down the old Exeter ship canal.

Further Away

Just outside of Exeter, is Haldon Forest Park – with its walking, bike, horse riding and Segway trails, plus Go Ape and a lovely cafe – there is plenty of fun for everyone.

Have your walking boots at the ready to explore Dartmoor, just 14 miles away and Exmoor (34 miles) National Parks – both have fantastic walks, pubs and scenery.

If National Trust properties are your thing then Knightshayes, Killerton House and Castle Drogo  are all worth a visit and within 16 miles or less from The Orchard Retreat.

Drive just a short way to the North or South Devon coasts and have a day at the beach, both can be accessed within an hour.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

On Our Doorstep

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Wander up the lane to Thornes Farm Shop, just an 8 minute walk – where you can pick your own fruit (in season), have a coffee and a hot breakfast or lunch in the café. Take advantage of their lovely local produce and the in house butcher, who will be only too happy to help you out with your BBQ meat. If you are a vegetarian there are plenty of other delights to enjoy. Most basics are available including local wines and ciders.

Have a drink and enjoy a lovely meal at our village pub, The Ring of Bells.  The owners are passionate about cooking local seasonal produce as well as stocking local beer and cider, plus it’s only a mile away (about a 20 minute walk) from The Orchard Retreat.  Alternatively, you can travel a little bit further, as within 5 miles you will find the Cadeleigh Arms , The Lamb Inn or The Beer Engine – all of which are nice local pubs. Also, nearer Tiverton, there is The Lost Kitchen, a little gem, within half an hour away – everything is cooked on the enormous wood fired oven and their decor is spot on.

Bring a bike to explore the local area (such as the Grand Western Canal Cycle Route) or walk one of the many public footpaths available.

Visit Bickleigh just 6 miles away and stroll along the river banks or visit Devon Railway Centre  or have a cream tea at Bickleigh Mill, with its restaurant and a small selection of shops.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Meadowtate: Take a picnic to our idyllic wild meadow and relax, unwind and rejuvenate in our beautiful unspoiled surroundings.

Hang Out Under The Stars: Light the fire pit, toast marshmallows, meet new friends or gather with old.

Mingle In The Gallery: With WiFi for our yurt guests (the cottages have their own) make use of The Gallery – a communal space for all guests, with games (indoor & outdoor), books & plenty of seating. You will also find the laundry room, washing is charged at £3 per wash and dry, which includes washing powder.

The Gallery also plays host to our Supper Club & may sometimes be hired exclusively for a wonderful group brunch or dinner.

For ultimate relaxation book our mobile masseuse or a yoga session with one of our two yoga teachers who offer one to one, couples or group yoga! Yoga[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
