Reasons To Be Cheerful

It really does make us smile being lucky enough to live and work at East Forde Farm, having moved here four years ago to set up The Orchard Retreat. So much fun, so many lovely guests and so much to do – certainly keeps you busy.

Lots of things to keep us laughing as well, like the time when I tripped over and threw an armful of logs at our guests – it’s ok they found it funny too, in fact more so than me. I mean what isn’t funny about someone doing a hilarious comedy face plant with a load of logs in their arms? I guess it’s these moments that have helped us to learn and improve – in this case, use a wheelbarrow to carry logs about the site. Note to self!

With so much to do both in and out of season, you have to expect the unexpected and take each challenge as it comes. January and February are times when we start to focus more on the season ahead, pruning the apple trees in the orchard, touching up paint work in the cottages and making sure everything is in tip top shape. We just love the lead into spring – getting excited about the season to come and wondering what and who it will bring.

We continue to look to the future, evolving the business and thinking of new ideas, keeping up with trends, but also wanting to remain true to ourselves. Lots of what about this and what about that – great ideas that aren’t always doable immediately, but we try our best. That is what my father always said, try your best and I am sticking with it – so far so good.

If you are starting to think about your next holiday and want to try Glamping for the first time or experience somewhere different in a beautiful cottage or yurt, then The Orchard Retreat is perfect for you. Relaxation, a digital detox and place away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A place that has been so often described as magical, stunning, peaceful, comfortable, safe, stylish without being pretentious – one of my favourite comments. Come and stay, see for yourselves and hopefully you will think the same.

Check our website for availability and book directly. Or give me a call and I can happily discuss availability, make a booking for you or answer any questions you may have. We are family and dog friendly and hope to meet you soon.
